The Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences, DSCG, combines the best chemical and geological skills in sectors such as 1) safeguard, evaluation, protection and recovery of the environment, geological and cultural heritage, 2) research and characterization of geomaterials, 3) archaeometry, 4) hydrogeology, 5) modelling of geodynamic processes with effects on global and local scale, 6) green chemistry, 7) sensors, 8) molecular magnets, 9) functional organic materials, 10) traceability of typical food products, 11) application of computational techniques to the development of new drugs and materials, 12) bioinorganic chemistry.

Since attention to the environment, energy saving and the valorisation of all natural and synthetic resources is becoming a driving force for the economy, the contribution provided by the chemical and geological sciences to all interested parties becomes crucial. The Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences can make available to public bodies and companies a wide range of skills, providing technical-professional consulting and solving complex problems. The Department possesses cutting-edge instrumentation for the resolution of chemical, geological and environmental problems and has longstanding collaborations with many companies aa well as public and private bodies.
